Since 2011, Forum Expat helps future expatriates and those who already took the plunge, in administration matters and others.
Initially, the website was only a specialised forum about expatriation, but over the years, it got enhanced by additional sections, like the webzine, classified ads, or a directory of websites for example. Its main purpose remains in the « destinations » part, gathering the previous sections, and numerous further contents, like useful links, public health risks on site, visas procurement formalities, and many other informations.
Here are a few examples of most frequently asked questions by future expatriates on our website :
How to spend its retirement abroad ?
Is it possible to benefit from unemployment allowances or tax credits abroad ?
How to declare a new-born when living abroad ?
How to get the United States Green Card ?
How to get married abroad and make sure the union is legal in France ?
How to get its National Insurance Number to work in the United-Kingdom ?
It is interesting to notice that the questions related to the “short term” expatriation, like for example the Erasmus program, the Working Holiday Visa, or International Volunteering, are not among the main concerns of future expatriates. They are more interested in “medium term“ and “long term” expatriations, probably looking for different climate of life than in France.
An other fact comes up about the choices of destinations consulted by the users. The leading countries are Cambodia, Laos, Dominican Republic, Saint Martin and Indonesia. These last, except for Dominican Republic, are not usually in the Top 10 of the countries drawing the most attention for expatriates. Is Forum Expat highlighting a new trend ?
Forum Expat's objectives for 2016 is to increase its content and to develop its community, especially on social networks.
