It is not easy to shine when you're surrounded by Nice and its glittering Promenade des Anglais, Cannes the star, and the sparkling Monaco. However, in the centre of this radiant Côte d'Azur, Cagnes sur Mer wishes from now on to play a key role. After refurbishing the Giacosa market city in the town heart, the municipality modernized and brought up on trends its seaside, reminding its coastal resort role. Its littoral has been softly refined, and its beaches, bordering on the city centre, has become appealing and welcoming. But the new urban project that is about to spring up from tomorrow will turn this simple second-rank neighbour into a major actress of the South East stage.
Until now, the commercial supply of the region remained classical and even outdated by the growing demand. At the end of 2015, a new shopping era opens on the Côte d'Azur with the Polygone Riviera of Cagnes sur Mer. Previously unseen in France, it has been designed as a 4 hectares village structured around the river running along the Avenue des Alpes, connecting the A8 motorway to Saint Paul and Vence. But more than a common shopping centre, it is an open-air Life-style Mall, directly inspired by the spirit of California or Florida. Whilst the space is becoming a rare commodity, it is here highlighted in a true place to live with its pedestrian zones and essential green areas.
The Polygone Riviera will spread over four districts, each with their own character and functionality. The Home & Garden part will consist of Decoration, Nature and Family boutiques, enliven by a variety of catering outlets. Next to it, the Lifestyle district will bring business and entertainment together, mixing more than 40 varied shops and a ten-screen cinema, along with the Casino already existing. Separated by a pond, the Premium district will gather the iconic brands of the world of fashion around a Provençal square, local identity marker. Finally, across the river, the Designer Gallery will unite Contemporary Art and innovative and customised facades for more luxurious brands, without forgetting new services like valet and personal shopper.
Watched over by the Guetteur, 22-metre-high sculpture and little brother of the Tête Carrée of the Library of Nice, this living centre offers a fresh vision of the urban activity of the Côte d'Azur, and the opportunity for Cagnes sur Mer to sparkle in its turn.
